Another “The Matrix” Movie In The Making

90’s film icon Keanu Reeves is on board to star in “Matrix 4,” and social media is freaking out. Variety broke the news that Reeves signed on for the fourth installment of the smash-hit films, along with costar Carrie-Anne Moss.

Toby Emmerich, the Chairman of Warner Brothers, announced that Lana Wachowski would direct the film.

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana,” Emmerich said. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”

The first three “Matrix” movies grossed $1.6 billion dollars during their box office runs. All three were written and directed by Wachowski and starred Reeves and Moss as the main characters, Neo and Trinity.

Although it’s been two decades since the original “The Matrix” appeared in theaters, fans’ enthusiasm for the Reeves-Moss duo hasn’t cooled off at all.

“I am so here for a ‘Matrix 4!’ Especially since Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss have only gotten hotter,” Jamie Jirak, a contributor at Buzzfeed, tweeted.

No official date has been set for the “Matrix 4” release. However, AMC theaters are showing the original “The Matrix” film in select locations starting on August 30th to celebrate the movie’s twenty-year anniversary.
