Spotify is making it even easier (and more fun) to get the perfect playlist going. The streaming giant has rolled out a new update to its popular AI DJ feature — and this time, you can simply text your requests instead of talking.
That’s right — whether you’re chilling in a quiet café, commuting on a noisy train, or just not in the mood to speak out loud, Spotify’s AI DJ is ready to jam with you over text. Available to Premium subscribers, this new feature lets you type your music requests directly in the app.
And the good vibes don’t stop there — Spotify’s Spanish-language AI DJ, DJ Livi, now joins the fun too! That means you can text your song requests in both English and Spanish, making it easier than ever for listeners around the world to get their perfect soundtrack.
Earlier this year, Spotify upgraded the AI DJ to respond to voice commands, letting users steer their listening experience in real time. But with the latest update, the experience is even more flexible. Texting with an AI assistant has become second nature for many users, thanks to tools like ChatGPT and Gemini — and now, Spotify brings that convenience to your music.
“Texting your DJ just makes sense,” says Spotify. “It’s a natural way for people to interact with technology today — quick, personal, and perfect for those moments when talking isn’t an option.”
Alongside text requests, Spotify’s AI DJ will now also suggest personalized prompts to help you discover your next favorite track or playlist when you’re not sure what to play.
Getting started is easy:
- Open Spotify and search for “DJ.”
- Press Play to launch your personalized mix.
- Tap the DJ button in the bottom-right corner to make your next request — by voice or text.
Whether you want “a chill indie mix for a rainy day” or “high-energy reggaeton for my workout,” Spotify’s AI DJ can handle it. It understands combinations of genre, mood, artist, and activity, crafting a playlist that feels tailor-made for your moment.
The upgraded AI DJ experience is now available in English and Spanish across 60+ markets worldwide — so you can text, tap, and tune in wherever you are.
Because sometimes, the best DJ is the one you can message.
