Alessia Cara takes a trip back in time to cringe over her old YouTube posts from when she was on her way to fame.
She posted herself performing her first cover of “Price Tag” by Jesse J at the age of 13 or 14. Cara says that the guitar in the video only cost her $100 at the time and was terrible at keeping in tune, but this didn’t stop her from performing more for her YouTube fans.
In another one of her early YouTube videos, Cara shows her sassy side while covering the song “Miss You” by Frank Ocean and Beyonce. The video starts with a frustrated Cara saying, “This is my eighteenth try… if you don’t like it, sucks for you.” Looking back now Cara has a laugh, questioning why she was mad at the people
In another video she covers Adele’s “One And Only” in 2011 and Cara says this was one of the first videos she posted on Facebook, with all her friends and family to see. Cara says that her mom was actually the encouraging force for her to start sharing her videos because she wanted more people to be able to see her daughter’s talent.
