Spotify Is Up To Something & So Is Apple!
It seems like it’s the battle of the brands! As Apple reportedly readies for the launch of its Beats music streaming service next month, Spotify plans to get out ahead on the unveiling with a little news of its own.
The Swedish-based company sent an invitation to members of the media on Thursday for an event that will be held on Wednesday, May 20 in New York City.
The tagline on the green invitation is pretty darn straightforward saying: “We’ve got some news and we think you’re all going to like it.”
Nope, it just doesn’t get more vague than that! Hmm … now our curiosity is peaked!
While the music streaming powerhouse may be about to break big news, Spotify may just want to be on the defensive side of things because it looks like Apple isn’t going to let one of its biggest competitors out do them just yet!
According to a report from The Verge, the Department of Justice is looking into complaints regarding Apple’s influence in the streaming music market.
The report says the tech titan is accused of pushing music labels to remove their content from streaming sites that offer free tiers, such as Spotify and YouTube. Well that’s certainly not neighborly behavior!
We smell tech-giant drama brewing so stay tuned for more details!
