Make Communicating With Your Teen A Little Easier
Communicating with your teen can be difficult and at times, impossible. Experts are suggesting a new way to get your messages across. Teenagers use texting instead of phone calls or face-to-face conversation almost everyday. At this stage in their life, it is strenuous and sometimes awkward to try and communicate their feelings. Next time you want to communicate something to them, try texting instead of calling.
There is a lot of research that suggests that teens don’t read or interpret adults tone or facial expressions accurately. Texting offers the young adult a way to hear their parent without being confused with their tone. It also gives both parties time to read what was said, process it, and generate an appropriate and respectful response. This is great for both parents and kids who tend to overreact at small things.
While face-to-face contact is extremely important, sometimes it is important to have effective communication with your child and this may be the way to do it.
