Get Ready For An Action-Packed Weekend Of Sports
The viewing weekend gets an early start with Friday’s Women’s World Cup quarterfinal match between the U.S. and France.
Co-favorites when the tournament began, the teams meet at 3 p.m. ET on Fox. As this is the knockout stage, the loser goes home (which is a much shorter trip for France, as the game is in Paris). “It’s going to be a great stage for both teams who have had a lot of pressure and a lot of eyes on them to really just go out and perform,” US co-captain Megan Rapinoe said.
There’s football, Canadian-style, to go with futbol. ESPN2 continues your Friday fun with the CFL Montreal Alouettes (0-1) playing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-0) at 7:30 p.m.
Heiner in the recliner note for the golf nuts – get comfortable now.
You’ve got the U.S. Senior Open (Friday, FS1, 3 p.m., Saturday, Fox, 4 p.m., Sunday, Fox, 2 p.m.,) the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic (Saturday and Sunday, CBS, 3 p.m.) and the LPGA’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship (Saturday and Sunday, Golf Channel, 3 p.m.)
It’s not as if you can never see the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox play, but this weekend brings MLB’s venture into London with two of its marquee franchises.
The teams play Saturday at London Stadium at 1 p.m. (Fox) with Prince Harry throwing out the first pitch and 10 a.m. on Sunday on ESPN. The stadium, used during the 2012 Olympics and primarily for soccer, has been retrofit to hold 60,000 fans. Tickets sold out quickly, the cheapest being about $320.
Back in the U.S., NASCAR’s merry band goes round and round at Chicagoland on Sunday in the Camping World 400. NBCSN shows this at 3 p.m.
Quite a variety. Enjoy.
