Get Ready For A Weekend Of Action-Packed Sports
March Madness, oddly enough, culminates in April. But it’s still March, so let’s enjoy the winnowing of teams from 16 to 8 to the Final Four.
At this writing, Thursday night outcomes were unknown, so we are going to start with the Friday matchups. The onus is on you to follow the schedule for the rest of the time that your heiner is parked in your recliner.
There are four Friday games and not a bad one in the bunch. Picking two above the others isn’t easy. We shall try.
We like No. 5 seed Auburn against No. 1 seed North Carolina in the 7:29 p.m. ET contest on TBS. Auburn routed Kansas in the second round and is clearly a team to be reckoned with.

And we like No. 4 Virginia Tech against overall No. 1 Duke at 9:39 p.m. on CBS. Tech’s Ty Outlaw, who was suspended over a marijuana arrest, has passed a drug test and is eligible to play. Duke seems mighty susceptible after it squeaked past No. 9 Central Florida.
As for Saturday and Sunday? Watch them all. Why not? You want to know how your bracket holds up for the Final Four on April 6-8.
There’s a sport called baseball that enjoyed Opening Day on Thursday. The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies – last year’s National League East winner vs. the 2019 favorite – owns the 7:05 p.m. time slot Sunday on ESPN.
Golf fans get a treat with the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play event in Austin, Texas. We don’t see a lot of match play. And here it is, with the final round on Sunday at 3 p.m. on NBC.
The fellas who turn left a lot and trade paint are at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday for NASCAR’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. Fox shows this at 3 p.m.
Happy motoring!
