A Sports Filled Weekend
After so many weeks of total immersion in basketball, we at last get to sample some other tasty sports as well. And there will still be a little basketball in our glass.
So plop your heiner in the recliner and let your eyeballs do the rest. Your Weekend TV Six-Pack is about to get cracked open …
It’s often said the Masters tournament doesn’t begin until the back nine on Sunday. That may be true for you if you’ve not been watching since the thing began on Thursday. Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m. ET on CBS, you’ll enjoy a nice look at azaleas, green grass, and a golf course you’ll never play.

If you’ve got the NBA TV channel, you will want to watch Sunday night’s meeting at 7 p.m. between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. The Warriors beat the Spurs 112-101 on Thursday night for their 70th victory and they need to win their final three games to break the NBA’s single-season record of 72 victories.
Saturday is a little bit of a throwback to old times, when horse racing and boxing dominated the scene. The Wood Memorial, a key Kentucky Derby prep race, will be run at Aqueduct in New York and NBC’s coverage starts at 5 p.m. Shagaf is the early 2-1 favorite.
You can flip back and forth between the Wood and HBO’s IBF heavyweight championship bout from London between title holder Charles Martin and hometown lad Anthony Joshua. Later in the evening, Manny Pacquiao’s last fight (or so he says) takes place in Las Vegas against Timothy Bradley. It is a pay per view deal and I never recommend you spend money to stay home.

Give college hockey a try. North Dakota and Quinnipiac (who knew?) square off in the championship game of the NCAA’s Frozen Four on Saturday night in frigid (???) Tampa. ESPN has it at 8 p.m.
You can flip between the Frozen Four and NASCAR’s Duck Commander 500 from Texas Motor Speedway (Fox, 7:30 p.m.) if you’d like to mix back and forth with around and around.
As always, watch responsibly.
