A Sports Filled Weekend It Was

First, a safe and Happy July 4th to all…

Dustin Johnson kept his composure down a bit of a rocky stretch and Jason Day did not. So Johnson, in his first start since winning the U.S. Open, bagged a 1-shot victor over Scott Piercy in the WGC Championship-Bridgestone, making up six shots on Day over the final two days at Firestone in Akron, Ohio.

Day did not hit a green in regulation over the final six holes.

Johnson is now ranked No. 2 in the world and the favorite going to the British Open in two weeks.

On the LPGA Tour, defending champion Brooke Henderson earned a four-stroke victory Sunday at the LPGA Cambia Portland Classic. Henderson, 18, is the first wire-to-wire winner at Portland since the tournament went to a 72-hole event in 2013. Stacy Lewis was second.
