Guatemalan Volcano Has A Deathly Impact
A Guatemalan volcano by the name of “Fuego,” also known as the volcano of fire, spewed rivers of lava on Sunday taking at least 25 lives and injuring dozens more. Located southwest of the captial, Fuego sent thick clouds of smoke nearly six miles into the air. President Jimmy Morales declared a state of emergency and issued a mandatory evacuation to residents within a certain area of the volcano. The President also set forth the next three days as a national mourning period.
Survivors report that when they saw the lava they ran for the nearest hill and were scared for their lives. It is projected that around 1.7 million people will be affected. It is hoped that with an effective evacuation plan, no more lives will be taken.
