Biden and Harris announced Time’s Person of the Year 2020
Time magazine ends 2020 announcing president-elect Joe Biden and vice president-elect Kamala Harris will be featured on the cover as Time’s Person of the Year of 2020. Time wanted to celebrate the unprecedented win of the dynamic Democrat duo and Harris making history as the first South Asian and Black vice-president-elect.
Time’s editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal explained, “For changing the American story, for showing that the forces of empathy are greater than the furies of division, for sharing a vision of healing in a grieving world, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are TIME’s 2020 Person of the Year.”
Another political figure that will be celebrates in the Time 100 edition including Dr. Anthony Fauci as one of the Guardians of the Year. Dr. Fauci will be working closely with the Biden administration on the COVID-19 health response team. Time announces the Guardians of the Year included frontline healthcare workers and radical-justice organizers, Porche Bennett-Bey and Assa Traoré.
Entertainers were recognized by Time magazine including K-Pop sensation BTS as Entertainer of the Year and NBA star LeBron James was named Athlete of the Year. CEO and Founder of Zoom, Eric Yuan, was named Businessperson of the Year and Time also featured a tribute to late icons. Time featured a tribute to late icons including Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, NBA star Kobe Bryant, “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman, and “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek.
Time magazine is also making history in 2020 by naming Time’s first-ever Kid Of The Year, Gitanjali Rao, a 15-year-od scientist and inventor using technology to tackle social issues including cyberbullying, contaminated drinking water, and opioid addiction.
