Should Hillary Embrace Her Femininity During The Presidential Campaign?
In what turned out to be the most unexpectedly expected political news so far this year, Hillary Clinton has officially announced that she is running for President of the United States. Obviously if Clinton goes on to be elected into office, this would make her the first female President in American history.
A lot of people are jumping on the Clinton bandwagon right away saying that is about time America has a female President – but is that too much of a burden to put on one candidate? To say you are only going to vote for Clinton because she is female takes away the majority of her platform as a politician.
She is not running for President because she is female and America needs a female President. She is running because she sees herself fit for the position and the fact that she is female is just a bonus factor, at least in our opinion.
The always opinionated ladies of ‘The View’ discussed this hot topic on their show this week and came to the conclusion that yes, we as Americans are extremely excited that history could be made by electing the first female President, but when Americans go to vote that should not be the only factor that comes into play when making your decision.
No matter what party you are a part of politically – it is cool to finally see a woman open doors and bust through the man’s world that is politics. In 20 years when we are electing yet another President, hopefully, there will be plenty of both males and females who are in the running and we can put this whole “first” female President to bed – maybe by then, we’ll have had 3 female Presidents – who knows. One thing’s for sure, this is going to be a very interesting race.
