We Reveal The Most Hated House Chore
Which chores do Americans hate the most? Cleaning-supply company Clorox set out to answer that question with a new survey. Clorox asked Americans which chores they most enjoy doing—and which chores they dread.
The Clorox survey, titled “The Dirt on Spring Cleaning: American’s Top Cleaning Confessions,” included over 12,000 participants. Even Clorox was surprised by some of the results.
For 37 percent of respondents, their favorite chore is—surprise!—doing laundry. (The jury is still out on whether people really enjoy folding the clothes after they’re washed.)
The second most favorite chore is cleaning the kitchen, with 32 percent of respondents choosing this chore as their favorite. Vacuuming came in third.
People’s least favorite chore, surprisingly enough, is organizing and dusting bedrooms—only 11 percent of respondents said this was their favorite.
While few people enjoy cleaning, most of us hate a mess: 93 percent of people said they are bothered by a dirty or cluttered home. However, 31% of us “never” deep clean our homes. 27% said our microwaves are splattered with old food, and 78% say they “hide” clutter by shoving it into drawers or under the bed.
Messes happen to the best of us, it seems. No wonder spring cleaning is so refreshing.
