On the day that he broke Brett Favre’s all-time record for passing yards, Peyton Manning also got benched.

The Denver quarterback, bothered by an injury to his rib cage and a possible career-ending foot injury, completed only 5 of 20 passes and threw four interceptions before coming out of the Broncos’ 29-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos lost for the second straight week after opening 7-0.

The New England Patriots pushed their record to 9-0, with Stephen Gostkowski kicking a 54-yard field goal with one second left to the beat the New York Giants 27-26.

The Carolina Panthers also kept their record clean (9-0), knocking off the Tennessee Titans 27-10.

The Dallas Cowboys lost for the seventh straight time, 10-6 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; the Washington Redskins blew out the New Orleans Saints 47-14; the Arizona Cardinals squandered a big lead and then came from behind to beat the Seattle Seahawks 39-32.

Holly Holm used her experience as a boxer to hand Ronda Rousey her first MMA defeat and relieve her of the 135-pound title on Saturday night in Australia at UFC 193. Rousey came in heavily favored and 12-0 but was defeated by a kick to the head in the second round. She says she will take some time off, as she had originally planned, and then return to MMA.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

The AP poll is unchanged at the top, with Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama 1-2-3 and Oklahoma State moving up to No. 4. The College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night.
