The Future
When it comes to advancing in technology, one nation is trying to stay ahead of the pack. Singapore Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan discusses the ‘Smart Nation’ initiative and why Singapore wants to become one with the world.
When asked why he is one of the first nations to consider doing this, he says simply not only do they have to but also they can. These advances will change the way people work, play, organize themselves, and so much more. Things such as economics and even politics will be transformed so those who are not willing to get on board for when the wave sweeps over us, will be the ones who are going to be in big big trouble.
So, being a city state and able to get the infrastructure right this way the people can stay connected all of the time. But, what’s interesting is that Vivian says that it’s really not about the technology. Technology is just a too. But if you don’t understand the technology, if you don’t imply it, if your infrastructures not ready, if your people aren’t ready again, you will be in big big trouble.
