That signal travels up to his brain and then he feels as though it is his hand. Igor is now among the very first people to use the prosthetic in the real world, making previously impossible tasks simple again.
The next step is to get Igor to forget he has lost a hand through a fully implantable system that triggers sensations like temperature in pain.
