Netflix will be premiering “Selena: The Series” in December
“Selena: The Series” is one of the most anticipated Netflix series to release since the news broke of the series being green-lit for the first season about the late Tejano music icon. Despite a delay in production due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the new series will be coming this winter on Netflix.

“Selena: The Series” will be a musical Netflix original series covering the rise to fame of the Tejano singer, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. The artist simply is known by her first name Selena is one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers in history, rising to fame with top-charting singles in South America and the United States.
Christian Serratos will be playing the role of Selena depicting the star’s rise to fame as a young girl in a family band while growing up in Texas up to the climax of her fame. Serratos will be co-starring in the series with Antonio Chavira (playing Selena’s father Abraham Quintanilla Jr.), Seidy López (playing Selena’s mother Marcella Samora), Gabriel Chavarria (playing Selena’s brother and music producer A.B. Quintanilla III), and Noemí González (playing Selena’s sister and band drummer Suzette Quintanilla).
Production shut down in March during the public health crisis surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic as many entertainment productions were shutdown. Netflix was able to resume filming near the end of September and the series was able to continue filming in a “pretty contained” set along with new safety protocols keeping all production participants safe.
The new trailer revealed that “Selena: The Series” will be available on Netflix starting December 4 for a musical series for the family just in time for the holidays.
