In the Winter Press Tour 2013 organized by Television Critics Association, Salke announced that Michael J. Fox is likely to appear in a new NBC comedy show. The title for the same is yet to be announced. This show is about the newscaster who quit the job due to Parkinson disease, but with proper treatment, his condition improved. Now he is ready to resume work. This is similar to what Fox has experienced in his personal life too. The former spin city star stated that various drugs had helped him minimize the effect and now he is capable do lot more jobs. So, more or less, this show is loosely based on the life story of Fox. They are planning to put this show out on Thursday night. The current Thursday night show, 30 Rock, will end in January and The Office will exit in this spring too. NBC was popular for its shows on Thursday nights, which includes the programs, such as the must-see days of Friends and Seinfeld. “The Voice” and “Revolution” have ranked NBC as one of the four best networks, but these shows will also take a break until March. These shows bring the maximum TRP. Now, NBC is trying a new strategy of using the summer Olympics to promote its own fall lineups. This strategy seems to be working pretty well.
Sharing a Real Life Experience
This comedy show is going to be work great for the family audience. It will portray Fox’s character as a father of three including two teenagers, Jennifer Salke; the NBC’s entertainment president has stated. It will be set in New York City and filmed there. In this show, the actor will be dealing with relationships, both professional and personal. He will also share his real-life stories related to how to deal with public appearance. This character has made him really famous and people and audiences have been admiring him. Sitting at home has made him very frustrated. The actor wants to work and keep himself busy since that is the kind of enjoyment and contentment he wants. Michael J. Fox also had a meeting with the actresses, who will play the role of his wife in this comedy show. The plot of the program was written by Laybourne and Will Gluck is going to direct the show. Wendell Pierce is said to be cast along with Fox in the show. He is going to play the role of his boss.
Leap of Faith
In a recent interview with Ellen, Fox stated that NBC is going crazy ad taking a big leap of faith by planning a full-time show with him! But NBC’s faith with Fox goes long back since the days of Spin City. Recently Michael J. Fox had appeared as a lawyer, in one of the shows hosted on the channel CBS “Good Wife”. In the past, the actor has played very limited roles. The executives at NBC are so much impressed with Michael’s performance that they are eagerly looking forward to the new show. Fox left ABC’s “Spin City” in the year 2000 after a period of four seasons since he was suffering from Parkinson’s diseases and had to be treated.
