New Space Tourism Program
Jeff Bezos offers everything imaginable on Amazon and now is offering trips to space, for those who can afford it.
The new space program Blue Origin will offer people the chance to travel a sub-orbital space flight for $200,000-300,000 and will offer tickets starting next year. The New Shepard is the name of the rocket that will start flight testing soon and fits the capacity of six passengers. The rocket will autonomously fly passengers 62 miles up into the atmosphere and passengers can experience weightlessness while taking in the beautiful view.
Bezos revealed to the Explorers Club in March that the price of admission to space is very high and that he is in the process of converting my Amazon lottery winnings into a much lower price of admission to explore the solar system. Estimates range each trip to space can cost Blue Origin up to $10 million.
Though this is not a big market yet Bezos will have competition in space tourism with Richard Branson’s Atlantic Galactic, the space travel division of Virgin Group. Atlantic Galactic has already sold 650 tickets that cost $250,000 each.
