Biden responded his event wasn’t “a Trump rally
Pro-Trump hecklers chanting “Quid Pro Joe” interrupted Joe Biden’s campaign event in Vermont over the weekend. The chant was a reference to House Democrats accusing Trump of asking for a “quid pro quo” from the President of Ukraine, which became grounds for impeachment proceedings.
However, Biden’s detractors claim Biden engaged in the same unethical behavior when he demanded that the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating his son, Hunter, be fired. The prosecutor was looking into possible illegal behavior on the part of Burisma, a company that has Hunter Biden on its Board of Directors.
Biden tried to shut down the hecklers, saying his event wasn’t “a Trump rally.”
“This is not a Trump rally,” Biden shouted. “This is a democracy…I’ve released 21 years of my tax returns, how many has yours? What’s he hiding?”
Despite the controversies engulfing his son, Biden remains the Democratic front-runner in the race for President. Republicans have tried to compel Biden to testify about his interactions with the prosecutor in Ukraine, but so far, he refuses.
“I am just not going to pretend that there is any legal basis for Republican subpoenas for my testimony in the impeachment trial,” Biden tweeted over the weekend. “That is the point I was making yesterday and I reiterate: this impeachment is about Trump’s conduct, not mine.”
