The MTV Video Music Awards had been done and gone but people around the net are still buzzing about one performance that Sunday night.

The provocative twerk-filled act of Miley Cyrus as she did her single “We Can’t Stop” and later joined Robin Thicke as he performed his “Blurred Lines” song has a lot of people talking.

What Fellow Artists Think

Shock is an understatement when it comes to Miley’s VMAs performance. Many have commented about how wild and racy the act was. 60-year-old Grammy winner Cindy Lauper had expressed her disappointment at Miley’s stint pointing out that most of the young singer’s fans are young teens that have looked up on her since her Hannah Montana days. Lauper believes what Miley did and the pairing of the songs sent the wrong message to them; that the two combined songs in the medley was giving date rape a go. She then added that it was real raunchy for the 20-year-old singer/actress to act that way on stage.

It is not only Cindy Lauper who thinks this way about the ex-Disney star’s act. Ex N Sync members Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick had a say about it. Lance, in his “Dirty Pop with Lance Bass” Sirius XM show, expressed being uncomfortable watching Cyrus gyrating on stage knowing that his nephews and nieces were in the audience. “I didn’t know I had to warn them that their little Hannah Montana was going to be naked and humping a finger,” he stated. Chris, on the other hand, claimed he saw Justin Timberlake got a little angry with Miley’s onstage antics. And because of it, N Sync’s 2-minute reunion really had the energy to upstage her act…in wholesomeness. So many have dissed on Miley Cyrus’ performance the list could go on – and that even includes Robin Thicke’s mom! On a brighter note though, Gloria Loring is more concerned of Miley even if she was not a fan of that very controversial number.

Cut the Girl Some Slack!

But it’s not all dissing for Miley Cyrus and her VMA-worthy PVC underwear. In fairness to her, a number of artists have all come to her defense. American Idol alumni Adam Lambert tweeted – “And listen if it wasn’t ur cup of tea – all good but why is everyone spazzing? Hey – she’s doin something right. We all talkin.” It was very clear he was pertaining to all the bashing the young actress has been receiving lately.

Selena Gomez, Justin Timberlake (who was earlier reported to be a little angry over Cyrus’ performance), Growing Pains actor Alan Thicke (who happens to be Robin Thicke’s father) also spoke out for Miley. It even appears that Robin’s wife, actress Paula Patton, seemed to be not bothered at all about all the grinding Miley Cyrus did on her husband while he sang “Blurred Lines”. A news site had reported she expected right from the start things were going to be that heated.

Unfazed

But well, the star of the controversy appears to be unfazed about all the agog her performance had caused. She had earlier claimed while interviewed during one of her rehearsals that her first-time VMAs act will be “one unforgettable performance” and that she did! Besides, all thanks to her, “twerking” gets to be in the new edition of Oxford Dictionary.
