The Rock comes out on top
It’s about time! After more than two decades in the spotlight, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has finally topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actors in the world. He took first place among other big names, like Bradley Cooper and Will Smith.
“The 47-year-old movie star will earn an upfront salary of up to $23.5 million for Jumanji: Next Level–making the film his highest paycheck yet–and also commands up to 15 percent from the first Jumanji film which grossed $962.1 million worldwide in 2017,” Fox News reported. “For his work on the small screen, The Rock takes in $700,000 per episode of HBO show “Ballers” and earns seven figures in royalties from clothing brand Under Armour.”
Rounding out the list of the highest-paid actors in the world were Akshay Kumar, Jackie Chan, Bradley Cooper, Adam Sandler, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, and Will Smith. All of them grossed between $35 million and $65 million last year.
Besides raking in millions on the big screen, Johnson has been busy in his personal life, too. He married his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, on August 18th in their home state of Hawaii. Hashian is the mother of two of Johnson’s three daughters, Tiana and Jasmine, who are one and three. Johnson has an older daughter, Simone, with his ex-wife Dany Garcia.
