Buccaneers to Play Patriots in October

Tom Brady is returning to his former home turf.

Tom Brady is returning to his former home turf.

The new NFL season is set to kickoff on September 9 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Dallas Cowboys. However, the attention that game will draw pales in comparison to the one that will follow it a month later on October 3: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, the Patriots’ home turf. This game will be a major event for the NFL, not only because of two highly capable teams going head to head, but because of one player in particular: Tom Brady.

This game will be the first time that Brady will set foot in Gillette Stadium since his departure from the Patriots, as well as the first time he’s gone up against them. Not only that, but there is also a major NFL record on the line: highest passing yardage.

The current NFL record for highest passing yardage in a single career is held by Drew Brees, who retired from the game with 80,358 yards. Currently, Brady’s passing yards are at 79,204, which means if he can pick up a substantial number of yards in this next game and win it, he’ll not only defeat his former team, he’ll set a league record in the process. It’ll be the Patriots’ game to lose, and it’s guaranteed that all football fans will be tuning into the game on October 3.
