Surprise Winners Take Charge

Can you believe this was Kevin Spacey’s first Golden Globe win?? 8th nomination is the charm. He took home an award for his maniacal portrayal of Frank Underwood in ‘House of Cards’.

Kevin Spacey was not the only first time winner at the Globes, the award show was full of them!

From ‘Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez to ‘The Affair’s Ruth Wilson, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association really rooted for the underdog this year.

The win for Ruth Wilson was a major shock with everyone thinking Viola Davis would take home the statue for Best Actress in A TV Drama. Soon after her win there was a Twitter hashtag #justiceforViola trending. Fans can be brutal, but regardless it was still a great evening celebrating the many achievements in both TV and film this year.

Some of the big winners in film included ‘Boyhood’ and ‘Birdman’ which both took home a number of awards. ‘Boyhood’ winning Best Film. Could this mean ‘Boyhood’ is the frontrunner in the race for Best Film at the Oscars? I guess we’ll just have to wait until February to find out.
