Music’s Big Night
The 56th annual Grammy Awards were last night and as expected it was a show full of ‘wow” worthy moments and heartwarming wins. The Grammy Awards are notoriously music’s big party night and last night’s show did not disappoint.
It was a star studded event and featuring 20 musical performances from some of our favorites like Jay Z, Beyoncé, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar and many many more.
Host L.L. Cool J was has usual dapper self, helping to keep the night running smoothly and entertaining the crowds.
“Wow” Moments
The show started with a rousing performance from Jay-Z and the oh-so fab Mrs. Carter, music’s power couple looked totally hot while rocking the stage to the hit song Drunk in Love .
Teenage songstress and New Zealand native Lorde rocked the stage with a fierce rendition of her smash hit Royals.
Katy Perry and Juicy J. livened up the theater with a dark and sexy variation of Katy’s newest hit Dark Horse, the performance for which was said to be inspired by eclectic songbird Stevie Nicks.
John Legend gave a soulful rendition of his Valentines Day-ready love song, inspired by his new model wife Chrissy Teigen, titled All of Me.
Taylor Swift took the stage and dazzled the crowd, playing a classic style grand piano while singing her single All Too Well. We’ve got to say we really loved her head banging!
Pink went aerial for her performance of Try and was then joined by Fun’s Nate Ruess to sing their hit collaborative song Just Give Me a Reason .
Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons rocked the stage with a fantastic song that blended the Imagine Dragons’ hit Radioactive and Kendrick Lamar’s M.A.A.d City. Seriously this performance was on par for best performance of night!
Daft Punk granted viewers a rare live performance in conjunction with 7 time 2014 Grammy nominee Pharrell Williams, music legend Stevie Wonder and bass guitar master Nile Rodgers. The superstars rocked the house with one of the year’s top hits Get Lucky in a classic Motown inspired set that certainly brought the funk.
Sara Bareilles and Carole King took the stage before presenting the award for best song of the year. The pair opted for a dueling pianos rendition of Sara’s song Brave , which was powerful and chocked full of timeless talent.
The oh-so regal Queen Latifah introduce Macklemore and Ryan Lewis who shared the stage with the material girl herself, Madonna and Mary Lambert. The group sang Same Love, the unique and equalizing love song that’s taken the nation by storm and we couldn’t think of a better lady to lend her voice than Madge. A mass wedding took place mid-song, which was officiated by Queen Latifah and made the moment that much more magical. If you’ve yet to watch it then get ready to swoon…just a little bit.
