University of Houston Mourns the Loss of Former Basketball Star Reggie Chaney
The University of Houston community is deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Reggie Chaney, a former star forward for the men’s basketball team. Chaney, who played an integral role in the team’s journey to the 2021 Final Four, passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 23.
Reggie Chaney, known for his unwavering dedication and passion both on and off the court, will be remembered as an exceptional athlete and an even better teammate. His commitment to the Cougar basketball culture left an indelible mark on the program and the University as a whole.
