Is the 90s boy band, N-Sync, well-known for the pop song “Bye, Bye, Bye” really reuniting for an epic performance on MTV’s Video Music Awards this August 25th?
Rumored Reunion
It has been ten years since N-Sync had been together; it was during their Celebrity tour in 2002 when the five-men group announced their hiatus and their last performance together was in 2003 where they gave a rendition of a couple of Bee Gees songs for the Grammy Awards. However, with Justin Timberlake set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on the MTV VMAs, the buzz that the 90s pop group he once was part of will have a reunion performance that night is getting louder by the minute.
It was even reported that the boy band’s reunion is a one-night only stint and that they will be doing a medley of their greatest hits including their much beloved songs “Bye, Bye, Bye” and “Dirty Pop”. “They are going to reenact some of their greatest videos in a medley, then Justin Timberlake will sing his new solo ‘Take Back the Night’, before Jimmy Fallon presents him with the MTV Vanguard Award,” one source reported.
Are They or Aren’t They?
Even so, former N-Sync member Lance Bass had dampened those speculations about the group reuniting when he answered reunion queries from reporters last Wednesday: “Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly.”
He continued to point out that a photo he posted on Instagram which showed him together with other N-Sync members Kirkpatrick and Fatone in Timberlake’s Miami concert had triggered the reunion buzz. He did find the overwhelming support from N-Sync fans via social media in regards to their supposed back-together performance cute and heartwarming and was even thrilled when he saw that it became a trending topic over on Twitter.
In contrast, another ex-N-Sync member’s close relative had disclosed that his son (Joey Fatone) is reuniting with the other N-Sync boys for the VMAs this Sunday confirming that the group will indeed be in attendance. Joseph Fatone Sr. even added that N-Sync will not just be part of the crowd that night, they are actually performing! However, when reporters caught up with Joey Fatone in NYC’s JFK Airport and asked him about the purported N-Sync reunion, he denied it with a huge convincing grin on his face.
Wait to Find Out!
So which is it really – are they reuniting for a one-night performance, or will fans be left disappointed?
Well, there is only one way to found out and that is on the VMAs night itself which is on Sunday, August 25th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. For sure, N-Sync fans who have long waited to see their fave band perform together again will have their fingers crossed.
