Verdict Delivered in High-Profile Trial of Nima Momeni for Bob Lee’s Murder
A San Francisco jury has reached a verdict in the trial of Nima Momeni, who is accused of killing Bob Lee, the founder of Cash App. After over two weeks of deliberations, the jury’s decision will be announced on Tuesday morning at the San Francisco Superior Court.
Momeni is charged with stabbing Lee three times on April 4, 2023, in San Francisco’s Rincon Hill neighborhood. Prosecutors believe the murder happened after Momeni learned that Lee had allegedly introduced his sister, Khazar, to a drug dealer who gave her a date-rape drug and sexually assaulted her. Prosecutors say Momeni was angry and confronted Lee, which led to the deadly stabbing.
During the trial, Assistant District Attorney Dane Reinstedt argued that Momeni, after grilling Lee about his sister’s assault, drove him to a quiet area near the Bay Bridge. There, Momeni allegedly stabbed Lee three times, including one fatal wound to his heart. The prosecution also pointed to evidence that overwhelmingly linked Momeni to the crime, including his DNA on the knife’s handle.
However, Momeni’s defense team claimed that Lee, who was reportedly under the influence of drugs, attacked Momeni first, forcing him to act in self-defense. Momeni testified that he didn’t realize he had fatally stabbed Lee until after the incident.
I asked Nima Momeni’s defense attorney why he looked distressed? Jurors were in the hallway for a while this afternoon with one inside, possibly talking to the judge. We only have about an hour left today. Will there be a verdict in the Bob Lee murder trial? pic.twitter.com/VwgqtZMnIB

Throughout the trial, Lee’s family, including his children, were present in court, visibly emotional as they heard the disturbing 911 call made by Lee before he passed away.
Now, after weeks of testimony, the jury has reached its decision, and the verdict will be announced on Tuesday. If convicted, Momeni could face 26 years to life in prison.
The case has captured widespread attention, not only due to its tragic nature but also because of Bob Lee’s role in the tech world. The verdict will be a pivotal moment in this heartbreaking story.
