Sit back, relax, and enjoy all the weekend games
Navy and Notre Dame enjoy a one-sided rivalry in college football – well, Notre Dame enjoys it.
The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series with the Midshipmen 76-13-1. At one point they’d won 43 straight. The current streak? Two.
They meet Saturday in South Bend, Indiana, at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Navy certainly has a shot. The Irish, 16th in the College Football Playoff rankings, are 7-2; the Middies, 21st, are 7-1. Not many teams run the triple-option offense but Navy is one of them. That’s heavy on the run. Keep an eye on Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book.
In another meeting of the ranked, and in a game of some significance in the SEC, No. 4 Georgia (8-1) visits No. 12 Auburn (7-2). CBS shows this at 3:30 p.m.
At 4 p.m., surprising Minnesota (9-0, No. 8) gets after No. 20 Iowa (6-3) on Fox in the Big Ten. Iowa struggles to score; the Golden Gophers come off a huge upset of Penn State.
The NFL’s schedule doesn’t offer many great matchups, but this one should be worthy of you plopping your heiner in the recliner: The New England Patriots (8-1) at the Philadelphia Eagles (5-4) at 4:25 p.m. Sunday on CBS. The Eagles knocked off the Pats in Super Bowl LII; the Patriots can secure a 19th consecutive winning season with a victory.
NASCAR’s championship race is finally at hand. The four competitors for the Monster Energy Cup title are Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. Truex won last year. The Ford EcoBoost 400, at Homewood-Miami Speedway, is Sunday at 3 p.m. on NBC.
The Utah Jazz are pretty good and the Memphis Grizzlies aren’t, but why not scope out the Jazz at least? Start your viewing weekend Friday night at 8 p.m. with the NBA on ESPN.
