RIP, AIM
Calling all 90’s/early 2000s kids out there…AOL Instant Messenger, aka AIM, has officially been retired. That means no more away messages, no more cool and hip screen names and no more seeing if your crush is online. The first of its kind has officially signed off after 20 years of memories. It was launched in 1997 was the first mainstream chat service. But, the program took a nosedive after the surge in technology and the invention of text messaging that came roaring in. Though AIM tried tactics to stay afloat, they were to no avail. It leaves us wondering, what will be the next powerhouse innovation of yesteryear to be wiped off the map by booming new technology?
