You’d think it’d be a little difficult to go on a concert tour when you’ve been dead for seven years. Luckily for Amy Winehouse, where pesky mortality falls short, weird science finds a way! A concert tour of the late Amy Winehouse will begin making its away across the country in 2019. In lieu of a physical singer, a hologram of Winehouse will “perform” remastered arrangements of her songs while a live band plays the backing track.
Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, was excited at the prospect to see his daughter perform one last time. “Our daughter’s music touched the lives of millions of people and it means everything that her legacy will continue in this innovative and groundbreaking way.” The creators of the holographic performer, Base Holograms, have revived multiple legendary performers through their work, such as Tupac, Billie Holiday, Whitney Houston, and Ronnie James Dio.
The tour will raise money and awareness for The Amy Winehouse Foundation, a nonprofit that educates young people about drug and alcohol misuse, provides a support network for the at-risk, and enriches and educates through music.
