Get Ready For The Weekend Reviewing All The Top Games
The NFL takes over our hearts, minds and TVs as it heads into its penultimate (that’s second-to-last, if you’re keeping score at home) weekend of regular-season play.
There’s so much going on that you will think you have glued your heiner to the recliner. We do urge occasional breaks and stretches of the legs and back, because your health is right up there on our agenda with your televised sporting entertainment.
The NFL Network gets us going on Saturday with a doubleheader that involves three teams on the periphery of the playoffs and one that’s already in. At 4:30 p.m. ET, the Washington Redskins (7-7) visit the Tennessee Titans (8-6). At 8:20 p.m., the Baltimore Ravens (8-6) challenge the Los Angeles Chargers (11-3). Ravens rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson is 4-1 as the starter; Chargers QB Philip Rivers is a serious candidate for MVP.
At 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-5-1) tangle with the New Orleans Saints (12-2) on CBS. The Saints earn home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with a win. At 8:20 p.m., the Kansas City Chiefs (11-3) visit the Seattle Seahawks (8-6). Let’s see how Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes handles the non-stop noise in Seattle’s stadium. NBC shows this one.
If you must break away from the NFL, we can offer up a few basketball games.
Wake Forest (6-3) probably doesn’t have much of a chance against No. 3 Tennessee (9-1) on the road, but this is the season of miracles (though not necessarily in basketball). CBS will show this on Saturday at noon ET. No. 15 Ohio State (9-1) heads west to play UCLA (7-4) at 3 p.m., also on CBS.
NFL-heavy? Of course. It’s almost the playoffs.
