Getting Ready For The Weekend Of Action-Packed Sports
You know what March means – March Madness.
Conference tournaments and the NCAA Tournament – also known as “The Big Dance” – are still in the future. But the games that will shape them are taking place now.
Take Saturday. The SEC, dominated early by Tennessee, now sees Kentucky rising up. No. 4 Kentucky visits No. 7 Tennessee at 2 p.m. ET, with CBS doing the honors. Well worth watching.
And if you’ve not had a chance to see new No. 1 Gonzaga yet, well, here’s your opportunity. Gonzaga plays St. Mary’s at 10 p.m. on ESPN. The Stags are 27-2.
Wait until Sunday and you will get No. 9 Michigan at No. 17 Maryland in a Big Ten battle at 3:45 p.m. on CBS. The Terps suffered an embarrassing loss to Penn State on the road on Wednesday.
Up a level, the NBA offers us the Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday at 8:30 on ABC. The Warriors still hold a slim lead in the Western Conference.
The on-field workouts at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis begin on Friday and NFL Network will be televising them through the weekend. The show begins at 9 a.m. each day but Saturday (10 a.m.) and Saturday is when the quarterbacks work out. If you can’t get your heiner in the recliner, just stay in bed.
The PGA Tour comes to Florida for the Honda Classic. The final round Sunday is available on Golf Channel from 1-3 p.m. and then on NBC from 3-6 p.m.
NASCAR’s Pennzoil 400 takes place in Las Vegas on Sunday. Fox shows the race at 3:30 p.m.
