Weekend of Sports Coming Your Way
Read this fast – as soon as it posts. Maybe you will be lucky enough to see the gentlemen’s semifinals from Wimbledon on Friday.
No. 8 Kurt Anderson, who vanquished Roger Federer in five sets on Wednesday, meets No. 9 John Isner at 8 a.m. ET. ESPN will carry it and stays with it through the 10 a.m. meeting of No. 2 Novak Djokovic and No. 12 Rafael Nadal.
Come back on Saturday morning when No. 11 Angelique Kerber and No. 25 Serena Williams vie for the ladies championship at 9 a.m. The gentlemen’s final is Sunday at 9 a.m., also on ESPN., matching Friday’s winners. You will have to get out of bed to plunk your heiner in the recliner, but is that really such a sacrifice. You surely have more than one happy place.
The World Cup comes to a conclusion in Moscow with Saturday’s third-place game between England and Belgium at 10 a.m. on Fox and the championship match Sunday between Croatia and France at 11 a.m., also on Fox. Croatia has never played in the final before.
NASCAR’s weekly paint exchange takes place on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Kentucky Speedway in the Quaker State 400. NBCS Sports Network does the honors. It’s actually a big weekend at the track in Sparta with NASCAR’s Xfinity Series also running on Friday night (8 p.m., NBC SN).
Tennis, soccer, NASCAR. Anyone miss football?
