Happy Tails
The University of Pennsylvania’s school of veterinary medicine does some amazing things, but now they are moving ahead and taking brain surgery to whole new level.
The reason this new technology got put in place was because one of the veterinary students who recently rescued a dog noticed a funny looking lump on his head. After numerous tests they discovered it was a rare for of brain cancer, which would require surgery, and they would have to remove half of his scull.
Now most people who of gave up right then and there, but a dedicated team was not going to let this rescue dog go so quickly. So they developed a new technology that allows them to 3-D print the dog’s skull before and after the surgery and basically preform the surgery before they do it on the dog. The surgery was a huge success and they hope that in the future this technology can help many other dogs with similar conditions. For more details be sure to check out the video above.
