Last night was a HUGE night for both front-runners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Both Trump and Clinton were looking for a convincing five-state domination on Tuesday that would secure their leads. Trump pulled it off. She fell slightly short. Both are edging closer to the nomination, but they will have to finish strong in order to do so.
The Breakdown
On the republican side, Trump took a clean sweep of all five states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rode Island. In Connecticut, Trump won with 57.7% of the vote, Kasich followed with 28.5% of the vote, and Ted Cruz with 11.7% of the vote. Trump swept all 28 delegates. In Delaware, Trump won with 60.8% of the vote, followed by Kasich with 20.4% of the vote, and Cruz with 15.9% of the vote. Trump swept all 16 delegates. In Maryland, Trump won with 54.4% of the vote, followed by Kasich with 23.0% of the vote and Cruz with 18.9% of the vote. Trump won all 38 delegates. In Pennsylvania, Trump won 56.7% of the vote, Cruz followed with 21.6% of the vote and Kasich with 19.4% of the vote. Trump won all 17 delegates. In Rode Island, Trump won with 63.8% of the vote and 10 delegates, Kasich came in second wit 24.4% of the vote and 5 delegates, and Cruz came in last with 10.4% of the vote and 3 delegates.
On the democratic side, Hillary won 59.8% of the vote and won 12 delegates while Sanders came in second with 39.2% of the vote picking up 9 delegates. In Connecticut, Clinton won 51.7% of the vote picking up 27 delegates and Sanders came in second with 46.5% of the vote picking up 25 delegates. In Rhode Island, Sanders won with 55% of the vote picking up 13 delegates while Clinton came in second winning 43.3% of the vote and picking up 11 delegates. In Maryland, Clinton won 63% of the vote with 59 delegates and Sanders in second with 33.2% of the vote and 32 delegates. And last but not least in Pennsylvania Clinton won 55.6% of the vote and picked up 95 delegates while Sanders came in second with 43.6% of the vote picking up 67 delegates.
