Robert Kraft wants to re-sign Brady just long enough that he can retire as a Patriot.
Earlier this week, prominent NFL player Tom Brady announced that, after his most recent season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he would be officially retiring from professional football. After his retirement misfire last year, he kept his departure message short and sweet, thanking his fans and teammates and saying he wouldn’t change a thing.

However, there is one man who would like to change one thing about Brady’s retirement: New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. As Brady’s time with the Patriots is generally considered his best and most fondly-remembered, Kraft would prefer that, if Brady has to end his career, he do it as a Patriot.
“Not only do I want it, our fans are clamoring for it,” Kraft told CNN. “To us, he is always has been and always will be a Patriot.
“We will do everything in our power to bring him back, have him sign off as a Patriot and find ways to honor him for many years to come.”

Kraft’s proposal for Brady is to have him re-sign with the Patriots on a one-day contract. That is to say, Brady would be a Patriot again for just one day, so that when he does officially retire, he will technically do it as a member of the team. Brady has not publicly responded to Kraft’s proposal at the time of writing.
