lebronnamedAPLebron James recently became the 3rd ever NBA player to win the Associated Press’ Male Athlete of the Year Award. James received 31 of the 96 votes to clench the award, beating out both Peyton Manning and Jimmie Johnson.

This has no doubt been another impressive year for James.  In June he lead the Miami Heat to their second consecutive NBA Championship, winning the regular season MVP award, and the Finals MVP award in the process.

This 2013-2014 season, he’s averaging 25.2 points a game. And though he’s previously averaged more points than this, he’s shooting at a .595% from the field, which is his best ever.  He’s kept the Heat at a 22-6 record, and when he’s feeling good, has further proven to be a near unstoppable force on the court.

James’ sole focus in basketball seems to be improvement. And it shows- James improves his athleticism and smarts every year on the court. And with plenty of the season left to play, he’s looking to get his 3rd NBA Championship.

So, He’s definitely deserving of the award. Now all we can do is wait and watch to see what Lebron James will accomplish next.
