Actor Dustin Hoffman will be remembered for the many iconic roles that he has played in films during his career. The 75 year old American actor is renowned for his role playing a woman in the film “Tootsie” and as the mentally challenged Raymond in Rain Man. It is hard to deny the talent that he has displayed during his career.
His Battle with Cancer
His latest role has been occurring in real life. He has managed to wage a successful battle against cancer. Hoffman would not reveal the type of cancer that was found by doctors. The information that was provided by his publicist was very general in nature. They said that Dustin Hoffman was diagnosed with cancer that was treated surgically. The surgery was successful and Mr. Hoffman is now cancer free. He is expected to make a full recovery and return to work soon.
A Very Long Career
Dustin Hoffman’s career has spanned over 50 years. He stage career started in a role on an off-Broadway play in 1960 and he first appeared in a Broadway production a year later. He continued to perform on stage and made his film debut in 1967. Over the next 40 plus years he has had many memorable roles and received countless awards and accolades for his body of work. He has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor several times during his career for his roles in The Graduate, Lenny and Wag the Dog and others. He won the Oscar for Best Actor for his part in the movie Kramer vs Kramer and Rain Man.
Over his career he has played a wide variety of characters from serious dramatic roles in All the Presidents Men to comedic roles in Meet the Fockers. His wide range allows him to tackle just about any part he is presented with. His voice has also been used in animated films such as Kung Fu Panda. In 2012 he made his directorial debut in Quartet. There is no end to the talents of this actor.
What Does the Future Hold
His role as a real life cancer patient may have been one of the toughest he has faced, but his fans will be glad to know that he has taken on this role like he does any other part he has been given. He has accepted it with grace, performed it well and is going too receive the rewards that come from beating this role into submission.
The cancer threat may have been something that Mr. Hoffman has had to deal with, but it is not going to slow him down. He is still going to continue to find the right roles to entertain people for many years to come. He stars alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Amy Sedaris in the comedy about a food truck called Chef that will be released May 9th.
His fans can expect to see a lot more of Mr. Hoffman and he will continue to entertain the public in any way that he can despite his scare with cancer. The reports have said that he looks great and is in good health despite the surgical procedure and is in great spirits.
