Six movie tickets for less than $1
AMC announced they will be reopening 100 US theaters on August 20, just in time to celebrate the movie theater company’s centennial anniversary. AMC will also be offering movie tickets for the same price offered in the founding year of 1920 for only 15 cents.
That’s correct, only 15 cents or 6 movie tickets for less than $1. AMC closed its movie theaters across the US in March due to mandatory shutdowns in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. AMC has delayed its reopening several times but has committed to reopening nearly 100 US locations on August 20.
AMC is planning for the upcoming premiere of the Christopher Nolan thriller “Tenet” on September 3 and is expected to have two-thirds of the 600 US locations open. AMC will also be offering showtimes for Disney’s new movie “New Mutants” set to release on August 28.
AMC movie theaters will also be offering additional offers for tickets and concessions, with $5 popcorn until the end of October. After the official reopening day, AMC movie theaters will offer discount tickets for $5 for classic blockbusters including “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Inception,” “Back to the Future,” and “Black Panther.” With most movie productions being delayed due to COVID-19, there won’t be too many new releases to choose from.
AMC’s CEO, Adam Aron, stated in a press release, “We are thrilled to once again open our doors to American moviegoers who are looking for an opportunity to get out of their houses and apartments and escape into the magic of the movies.” If you’re looking for a reason to get out of the house and see some friends, check to see which location is open in your area.
