Kylian Mbappe led Paris Saint-Germain to a resounding 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 clash.
Mbappe’s brilliance shone through just before the hour mark at the Parc des Princes, as he broke the deadlock and set PSG on course for a crucial win.
Despite a sluggish start from PSG in the first half, Mbappe’s clinical finish and Bradley Barcola’s well-taken goal in the 70th minute ensured a commanding lead for the French champions ahead of the return leg in Spain. Captain Marquinhos acknowledged PSG’s initial struggles but credited a halftime discussion for the team’s improved second-half performance. “We understand the importance of winning at home, but the job isn’t finished. We must maintain our focus and performance to secure our qualification,” Marquinhos emphasized.
Real Sociedad, appearing in their first Champions League knockout stage in two decades, faced difficulties without captain Mikel Oyarzabal and entered the match goalless in their last four games.
