In a very sad day for the entertainment community super actor, playwright and director Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead Sunday, Feb 2.

Hollywood is paying its respects to Philip Seymour Hoffman , who was found dead Sunday in the bathroom of his apartment in the West Village.

The Actor’s Tragic Death

With a career spanning over two decades, Hoffman won an Oscar for his work in 2005’s ‘Capote’ and just prior to his death was wrapping up filming for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2”.

The 46-year-old Oscar winner died of an apparent drug overdose, according to CNN .

According to reports police received a 911 call just after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, and while the NYPD has not released any further details many news outlets claim empty plastic envelopes known to carry heroin were found at the scene of the actors death.

Hoffman, who battled drug and substance abuse related demons for much of his adult life, had just recently split up with the mother of his three children.

On Twitter, Aaron Paul wrote, “We lost one of the greats today,” while Mia Farrow tweeted that Hoffman was a “truly kind, wonderful man and one of our greatest actors.

He was a caring father of three and beloved by his fellow professionals.
