After so many months without football, even the NFL’s preseason games are a treat
Sure, most teams aren’t playing many starters. The Los Angeles Rams even said they won’t play any throughout the preseason. But football is football and the stars of tomorrow (and the practice squad members of tomorrow) are on display, and what else do we have to do with our time?
The NFL Network is the place to be. It will show three games on Saturday and one on Friday night. Ah, gluttony.
We open on Friday evening with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants. Here’s a chance for another look at Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, their No. 1 pick. NFL Network, 7:30 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s trifecta commences with Cleveland Browns-Indianapolis Colts at 4 p.m., segueing into Kansas City Chiefs-Pittsburgh Steelers at 7:30 p.m. and wrapping up with Dallas Cowboys-Rams at 10 p.m. Your heiner and your recliner will be joined in holy matrimony.
The PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup series moves to Medinah, Illinois for the BMW Championship. NBC shows the third round Saturday at 3 p.m. and the final round Sunday at 2 p.m.
A good bet for the baseball fans is Sunday’s meeting between the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers and the NL East’s first-place team, the Atlanta Braves. You’ll find this on TBS at 1:20 p.m.
Glad the NFL is back, even in this off-off-Broadway format. Only a couple of more weeks until the real thing is at hand. And college football is also just around the corner. We might be needing a weekend 12-pack!
