Trump goes after Pelosi, again

In the midst of impeachment hearings in the House of Representatives, President Donald Trump is feuding with Nancy Pelosi, the highest-ranking Democrat in the House. In a tweet Monday night, Trump called Pelosi “crazy” and said she’s out to get him because she knows he will win the 2020 election.

“Nancy Pelosi just stated that ‘it is dangerous to let the voters decide Trump’s fate,'” Trump tweeted. “In other words, she thinks I’m going to win and doesn’t want to take a chance on letting the voters decide. Like Al Green, she wants to change our voting system. Wow, she’s CRAZY!”

However, it appears Trump misquoted Pelosi, and that the quote came from a Fox News reporter during a broadcast hours earlier.

The reporter was paraphrasing a portion of a “Dear Colleague” letter that Pelosi wrote to fellow House members about the impeachment hearings. In the letter, Pelosi said Trump was undermining the U.S. electoral system.

“The facts are uncontested: that the President abused his power for his own personal, political benefit, at the expense of our national security interests,” Pelosi wrote. “The weak response to these hearings has been, “Let the election decide.” That dangerous position only adds to the urgency of our action, because the President is jeopardizing the integrity of the 2020 elections.”

Trump is accused of pressuring the Ukrainian President to provide him with dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, who is running for President as a Democrat, in exchange for military aid.
