Another Spider-Man Villain Movie Is Coming

After the financial (if not critical) success of Venom, Sony has decided to go ahead on another Spider-Man villain spin-off film. The next villain on deck is one of the hero’s less well-known foes: Morbius, the living vampire.

It was announced on October 9th that a Morbius film is in production, and will begin filming in early 2019. Playing the titular vampire will be Jared Leto of Requiem for a Dream, Blade Runner 2049, and Suicide Squad fame. Producer Avi Arad believes Jared Leto can make the character of Morbius his own in a similar way to Tom Hardy in Venom, and will turn in a better performance if he does so.

Arad and the production crew have not yet settled on a projected rating for the film. While they concede that a film about vampires may need to go up to an R-rating, Arad would prefer it be PG-13 like Venom so his grandchildren can see it.
