The Great Target Outage Of 2019

Target registers nationwide malfunctioned on Saturday, leading to the “Great Target Outage of 2019.” Customers waited in lines for up to an hour as confusion mounted until many got frustrated and left the stores. Target spokesman Joe Poulos said the outage is over, although registers at some locations are still experiencing technical difficulties.

“The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours,” Poulos said. “Our technology team worked quickly to identify and fix the issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused by our guests.”

The Great Target Outage on Saturday was apparently caused by an error during routine maintenance. On Sunday, many Target stores were unable to process certain credit cards for up to 90 minutes. However, neither outage was caused by data breaching or hacking, the Target spokesman confirmed.

“After an initial but thorough review, we can confirm that this was not a data breach or security-related issue, and no guest information was compromised at any time,” Poulos said. “We appreciate all of our store team members who worked quickly to assist guests and thank everyone involved for their patience.”

Target run and done? Here’s to hoping no technical issues prevent quick Target trips in the future.
