Daughter supports father through Epstein scandal
Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Britain’s Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, is standing by her father amid the scandal over Andrew’s alleged involvement with Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein, an American billionaire, was a convicted pedophile who allegedly trafficked underage girls to benefit himself and his powerful friends, including Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew has denied any involvement with Epstein’s trafficking ring, but he remains under a cloud of suspicion.
A source told PEOPLE.com that Princess Beatrice remains close to her dad and that he will be involved in her upcoming wedding. Other members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth, have distanced themselves from Andrew and relieved him of official duties.
“I definitely think he will walk her down the aisle,” the source said. “He plays a very traditional role in her life. She’s his greatest supporter…They are still traveling together, they are still going ahead like normal. Beatrice would never do anything to be hurtful to her father. He’s going to be by her side and she’s going to be by his.”
Prince Andrew wasn’t invited to the engagement party honoring Beatrice and her fiance, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. But the source insists he is invited to their upcoming wedding, and that he retains his title as Duke of York.
