Making History
It was a huge moment in history on Saturday as Pope Francis touched down in Cuba to begin his historic 10-day tour of Cuba and he United States. Pope Francis was greeted with cheers and applause from hundreds of Cuban people assembled to welcome him as he landed.
When the Pope arrived he was quick to call on the communist nation to “open itself to the world,” while praising its recent restoration of diplomatic ties with the United States. The Pope was greeted by President Raul Castro at Jose Marti International airport in Havana, where the pontiff urged Cuba to grant its people freedom.
Cuba has come a long way in the past year and the Pope is hjoping that they continue to grow. Wifi was even open to the public for a brief time allowing the people who were meeting the pope to communicate over social media. After all communication went back to being shut down.
