For the last few months, 30-year-old Matt Amodio has been a household name thanks to his appearances on the daytime game show Jeopardy! For the past 38 shows he’s appeared on, Amodio took the top spot of all three contestants. Over the course of this incredible winning streak, Amodio correctly answered 1,299 clues, earning a grand total of $1,518,601.

Unfortunately, Amodio’s winning streak came to an end yesterday when he placed third against Florida actor Jonathan Fisher and Tennessee statistical research assistant Jessica Stephens. In spite of the upset, Amodio has earned himself a place in Jeopardy! history with the second-longest winning streak the show has ever seen, behind only Ken Jennings’ legendary run of 74 games.

“He was unbelievable, and also really, really fun to watch,” Jeopardy! host Mayim Bialik said. “I don’t think that I’ve experienced in all the time that I’ve been here anything like that, with the pace and intensity that he was able to keep up.”

“The one thing I admire more than anything else on Jeopardy! is consistency. It’s so hard to come out and win day after day and week after week,” Jennings said about Amodio’s performance.

For his incredible performance, Amodio has earned himself a guaranteed spot on the next Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.
