Leslie Grace Discusses ‘Batgirl’ Cancellation

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. announced that its upcoming Batgirl film had been cancelled, in spite of the fact that they had already spent over $90 million on it and that it was already in post-production. Apparently, this was a surprise to the cast and crew of the film, who were not informed of the cancellation until it had already gone through.

The film’s star, Leslie Grace, posted on her social media profiles about the cancellation, though rather than focusing on the cancellation itself, she instead chose to spotlight the crew she worked with.

“Querida familia! On the heels of the recent news about our movie ‘Batgirl,’ I am proud of the love, hard work, and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over seven months in Scotland,” she wrote in her post. “I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process!”

Grace’s post followed a separate statement from the film’s directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. “We still can’t believe it. As directors, it is critical that our work be shown to audiences, and while the film was far from finished, we wish that fans all over the world would have had the opportunity to see and embrace the final film themselves,” they wrote on their own social post.
